About Kaohsiung National Stadium
Kaohsiung National Stadium, originally named the 2009 World Games Main Stadium, also known as the World Games Stadium or “Dragon Stadium,” is located at No. 100, Shiyun Boulevard, Zuoying District, Kaohsiung City. Designed by renowned Japanese architect Toyo Ito, the stadium opened in May 2009 and was built to host the 2009 World Games. It is currently the largest sports venue in Taiwan.
The stadium features an open design with a distinctive spiraling, dragon-like exterior. It was the world’s first sports stadium with solar power generation capacity, with 8,844 solar panels installed on the roof. It has approximately 40,350 fixed seats, and with temporary stands, can accommodate up to 55,000 spectators — making it the premier venue for large-scale concerts and sporting events in southern Taiwan.
In recent years, the Kaohsiung City Government has heavily promoted the concert economy, and the National Stadium has become a key stage for international superstars performing in Taiwan. Mayday, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, BLACKPINK, and Ed Sheeran have all performed here. For transportation, take the Kaohsiung MRT Red Line to R17 World Games Station, use Exit 1, and walk about 8 to 10 minutes to reach the venue. During concerts, free shuttle buses typically run between the stadium and HSR Zuoying Station, and the MRT increases service frequency for crowd dispersal, making transportation quite smooth.

Post-Show Transportation Guide
Dispersing 55,000 spectators is no small feat. Here are the most recommended post-show transportation options:
MRT
Kaohsiung MRT Red Line R17 World Games Station is the nearest station. Use Exit 1 and walk about 8 to 10 minutes to reach the venue. The last train toward Gangshan departs around 00:35, and toward Xiaogang around 00:18. During large concerts, the MRT increases frequency to every 3 to 5 minutes and may extend operating hours based on crowd size. We recommend topping up your iPass or EasyCard in advance to avoid queuing for tickets.
Free Shuttle Buses
During major concerts, the organizer typically provides free shuttle buses between the stadium and HSR Zuoying Station (TRA Xinzuoying Station). Post-show shuttles usually run from 21:30 to 23:30. From HSR Zuoying Station, you can transfer to the HSR, TRA, or MRT — extremely convenient.
Bus
Take bus routes 29, 218, or 245 to the Armed Forces Zuoying General Hospital stop, then walk about 2 minutes to the venue. Alternatively, take routes 6, 219, or 301 to World Games Station and walk from there. Red 53 bus goes directly to the World Games Stadium stop.
YouBike
YouBike stations are available near the venue, but during large events, stations along Shiyun Boulevard will be suspended. We recommend using stations on Cuihua Road or Junxiao Road instead.
Driving and Parking
During large events, the entire Shiyun Boulevard is closed to traffic. The venue does not provide car parking, and roadside drop-off is prohibited along surrounding roads. Drivers are advised to park at HSR Zuoying Station or Metropolitan Park Station parking lots and take the MRT to the venue. Temporary motorcycle parking is available on the southwest side of the stadium and on the west side of Junxiao Road.
