About The O2 Arena
The O2 Arena is located on London’s Greenwich Peninsula. Originally built as the Millennium Dome for the year 2000 celebrations, it was converted into a modern indoor venue in 2007 and quickly became the world’s busiest concert arena. With a capacity of approximately 20,000, the venue sold over 2.6 million tickets in 2024, maintaining its position as the world’s top-selling indoor arena for consecutive years, surpassing legendary venues like New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Superstars such as Beyonce, Adele, Ed Sheeran, and Elton John have all performed residencies here. The arena hosts around 200 events annually, spanning concerts, sporting events, comedy shows, and family entertainment. For transport, North Greenwich station (Jubilee Line) is right beside the venue, just a 2 to 3-minute walk. It is about 15 minutes from Waterloo and 20 minutes from Bond Street. Beyond the Underground, you can take Thames Clippers river buses to North Greenwich Pier, or ride the IFS Cloud cable car across the Thames, offering multiple ways to arrive. The surrounding area features a wide selection of restaurants, shopping outlets, and a cinema, so it is worth arriving early for a meal before heading inside.

Post-Event Transport Guide
After events, North Greenwich station gets extremely crowded, and it typically takes 15 to 30 minutes on the platform before you can squeeze onto a train. Pro tip: take the southbound platform toward Canary Wharf where crowds are lighter, then change to other lines at Canary Wharf, saving a lot of queueing time. The last Jubilee Line train is around 00:30, with Night Tube extended service on weekends.
Night buses 108 and 188 run 24 hours, with the 188 going directly to Waterloo, very convenient. Uber and Bolt surge pricing after events is severe, typically 2.5 to 4 times normal rates. It is best to pre-book 15 minutes before the show ends, or simply take the Underground. London black cabs queue outside the venue, with fares around 12 to 25 GBP, but wait times can also be 20 to 45 minutes.
The venue has 2,500 parking spaces but advance online booking is required, and it is within the ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone), so check your vehicle’s emission standards if driving. Another unique option is the Thames Clippers river bus to North Greenwich Pier. On major event days, there is also an O2 Express boat from Waterloo Pier, with a 35-minute journey offering stunning Thames night views along the way.

Accommodation near the O2 Arena is concentrated in two main areas: Greenwich and Canary Wharf. There are plenty of walkable hotel options, and the Jubilee Line or DLR makes getting around very convenient. Room prices fluctuate significantly during popular events, so book at least a month in advance. Whichever hotel you choose, remember to avoid the post-event rush at North Greenwich station. Grab a late-night bite at one of the restaurants around the venue before heading back. This way, you will not be standing in the cold queuing for transport after the concert, and your overall trip will be much more enjoyable.
